step1.
Prepare for the experiment
Confirm that the 100x objective lens is the oil immersion lens (the lens will have an “OIL” marking).
step2.
Adjust the light source
Raise the condenser to its highest position and open the iris diaphragm completely to maximize light intensity.
step3.
Add immersion oil
Turn the coarse adjustment knob to raise the stage. Above the area to be observed, place a small drop of cedar oil between the objective lens and the slide. Avoid using excessive oil or contaminating other areas of the slide.
step4.
Switch objectives
Rotate the revolving nosepiece to switch from the low-power objective to the 100x oil immersion objective, ensuring the oil immersion lens is directly below the barrel.
step5.
Oil immersion operation
Observe from the side, slowly turn the coarse adjustment knob to lower the objective lens vertically until it is immersed in the oil and lightly touches the slide.
step6.
Rough focusing
Slowly turn the coarse adjustment knob in the opposite direction to raise the objective lens until an image of the specimen appears in the eyepiece.
step7.
Fine focusing
Use the fine adjustment knob to focus until the object in the field of view is clear.
step8.
Observe the specimen
Move the mechanical stage to the left and right to adjust the specimen’s position, using the fine adjustment knob for detailed observation.
step9.
Cleaning after use.
Prioritize using lens cleaning paper soaked in xylene to wipe the objective lens clean.
Note: Because immersion oil is a liquid and cannot be shipped by air or express, in our actual operations, if you purchase HINOTEK microscopes and transport them by air or express, we will not include immersion oil. You will need to purchase immersion oil locally.
